Gray Castle

Nuits-Saint-Georges

Château-Gris, built in the 18th century, is located in Nuits-Saint-Georges , in the heart of a 3.5 hectare enclosure. Its name simply comes from the gray color of its slate roof, although tiles predominate in Burgundy.

Its certified “Organic Farming” vines have an average age of over 40 years. They peak at 280 meters and are planted on terraces (this is quite rare in Burgundy). While the plots at the foot of the Château grow Pinot Noir, it is Chardonnay which is grown in the upper part.

The altitude, the steep slope facing due east and this characteristic clay-limestone soil (Middle Bathonian of the Jurassic) offer optimal conditions for producing fine and elegant wines.

From the 2018 vintage, Château-Gris wines will claim “Organic wine” certification on their labels.
